Crazy Horse Leather Care Guide | Lorence Water-based Waterproof Fatliquor Cream

What Is Crazy Horse Leather?

Despite the word “horse” in its name, Crazy Horse Leather is not made from horsehide. It is a type of full-grain cowhide processed with a special finishing technique. Compared with regular chrome-tanned leather, Crazy Horse Leather is thicker and more substantial. During the final finishing stage, specially formulated oils or waxes are applied to the surface, creating a distinctive oil-and-wax pull-up effect with a unique color-changing appearance.

As a result, Crazy Horse Leather offers a smooth yet durable hand feel, a natural color, and an authentic leather texture. While retaining the natural character of leather, it creates a distinctive vintage and rugged style. Compared with other full-grain leathers, Crazy Horse Leather is relatively easy to maintain. The key is to replenish the leather’s oils regularly to preserve its original hand feel and appearance.

Lorence Water-based Waterproof Fatliquor Cream

As a type of oil-wax leather, Crazy Horse Leather gradually loses some of its internal oils during production and everyday use, which may result in dryness and reduced surface luster. Based on this characteristic, Lorence developed a dedicated fatliquor cream.

Lorence F831 Fatliquor Cream is a cream-formulated oil-wax fatliquor and water repellent made from natural and synthetic lubricating agents. It is suitable for oil-finished leather and leather goods made from it, particularly leather that has already been treated for water resistance.
